When working with adults with IDD, the preference for music can vary immensely as many of my clients are different ages and have different musical tastes. There are still some songs that tend to be popular among groups of adults because of the music’s cultural popularity or general groove. Here is a list of songs that my clients have enjoyed in no particular order when I am not bring in original musical experiences! It is a good starting point for working with groups with adults with IDD, remembering to continue to learn the individual’s song preferences in your group as you continue building rapport and getting to know them.
